I need something that could support the weight of my cats. I have yet to receive my tank yet but I have 2 Bengal cats that I know will eventually jump into the aquarium. I bought a pack of the lid clips and suppose I can cut a piece of acrylic to fit.
What are my options?

I just had to put this in here:D:D

I would suggest egg crate light cover. The main reason is you still want the tank to breath and have gas escape/exchange to happen. With a solid top this will not happen. Covers tend to also defuse the light and dem the light that your corals need.

Thats a good idea. Plus the cats might not like the feel of the egg crate.
I'll try that first and see.
Thanks

That photo didn't come through?
Yeah Savannahs are big butt cats. I always wanted one. I also have an Ocicat, Tivo and Lego. The Savannah at six months is almost as big as my adult cat.

I was giggling because I have Savannahs ....thought same thing about my tank (not an IM....I had a Ssssscat can on the edge BUT never needed it, one walk around edge of tank for curiosity, one wet paw & now its just sit & observe.

If you have the clips & want something sturdier than a screen, you might consider using a DIY screen channel kit from Lowes or such and go to a sign shop & have them cut you a piece of acrylic or koroplast (sp) it comes in mutiple colors its like pressed plastic(no grooves) to fit in channel. Drill holes for aeration in it.
Good luck!

I just watched it & LMBO! Pretty close to what mine did-but I must be dang lucky because my girl does not touch the tank anymore. And as you know Savannahs like to swim so I was surprised.
I also have a Biorb 30 in the cat room with freshwater for their enjoyment & no jumping on hood either after about 2 tries & me yelling & faking the noise the scat can makes. It amazes me the tiny edges they climb on, I never know what to find her on next-but usually it involves looking Up^^^!

I'm pretty sure my cats will jump in while its cycling. They might learn a lesson that way. But I think I'll build a cat bed next to the tank if they remain curious. And the "egg crate" should work...
