Red Sea Reef LED's are garbage

I have an issue that I open the application and then it shows all the info I usually see and levels the lights are running at 100% 75% 0% etc. Then even though as a heading at the top of the percentage read out area it says the program that I have manually invented and set but I click into the led's to adjust the settings and it then tries loading the led's........ 1 why? when it's displaying the darn things anyway and then 2 most annoyingly it switches the whole app down with a message that reads 'Led's do not run any program' I'm ready to get the baseball bat and beat them out of the hood either that or throw the phone in the tank, it's really getting to a 'hulk smashy smashy' kind of point now :confused-face: does any one have any idea how to make the Led's or at least the reefbeat app recognise they are running a program and are even switched on at that moment too

If I had to guess, it sounds like the app lost connectivity to the lights, and they are just operating under the last known configuration dropped to them from the cloud controller. I did run into a couple issues when setting mine up. I was expecting it based on reviews and the fact the controller seems to be completely cloud based with a WiFi connection. I made some changes on the network side and I have had no issues since. Assigned a LAN static IP to each light, and my iPhone. I also turned off the "private WiFI address" feature on my iphone. I did both at the same time, so can't confirm if only one was necessary. I understand not everyone has the knowledge to make these changes, shoot me a dm and I can walk you through it. You just need to know the MAC address for each light, which is easy to find in the ReefBeat app under the "device manager" section.

Yeah I like your thinking, private network and IP for lights add onto the private network identifying them by their mac addresses, I guess that there is some loss of some sort or functionality loss because of not being connected to the cloud in any way? Or is that just for notifications only?

All I ultimately wanted to do was change the timing , the app has such brilliant reviews on here, on Facebook and other places too, I can see why red sea led's are so popular on here...... waiting for the cough.... Oh emm *** gee or put another way OMG, what a pain in the shoehorn, but I'm sorry I still love the way they do their job lighting the tank,...... so 8/10, lost 2 points on the app, fire the techie guys, OK only joking, retrain the techie guys post haste!!!!

Yeah I like your thinking, private network and IP for lights add onto the private network identifying them by their mac addresses, I guess that there is some loss of some sort or functionality loss because of not being connected to the cloud in any way? Or is that just for notifications only?

It is still on the same network as everything else, just the IP address for the lights and iPhone stay the same so they always know where to find each other.
