Hey all, could anyone shed some light on what power heads to go with? Can’t decide between a maxspect gyre 230 or 2 mp 10’s. Anyone have anything like this or opinions on it? Any help will be useful! Thanks!

Combination of the two. Define your goal. IF it's SPS dominant you'll want a lot of flow. Softie or LPS combo you could get by with less. At a minimum you'll need something on each of the two sides, also dependent upon aquascape and quantity of rock work.

I’m heavy lps softie right now In current tank but would like to get into sps. I plan on having a minimal rock scape.

No reason a gyre on each side (or the cheaper Icecap version) couldn't work, or a gyre/mp40 combo. If you are tied to quality brand names I get it, but the Jebao PP/OW series has done me well for over two years without fail or replacement. Knock on wood ;)

Be wary of MP10s on the 10mm and 12mm glass panes of the Reefer 250. That’s pushing them out of spec glass thickness wise. At higher speeds the wetsides might not stay coupled to the drysides because of the thickness of the glass.

I’ve got a tank with 12mm (1/2”) glass and opted for a pair of MP40s.

I went with 2 MP40s due to the glass thickness. I run them at about 15%. I can also keep them if (when) I upgrade.
