Over the weekend I upgraded from my old Gen1 Red Sea Reefer 250 to a brand‑new Red Sea Reefer 625 G3 that I snagged on Black Friday. Talk about a tank of a tank. This thing is an absolute beast. The upgrade was no small project either—it took almost two full days to break everything down, transfer livestock, redo the aquascape, dial in the plumbing, and get all the equipment tuned just right. Still tinkering with things as one would expect.
But seeing it finally come together made every hour worth it. The extra space, the cleaner layout, the updated features… it’s a massive step up from the 250. The fish are definelty stressed but seem to love the room to stretch out, especially the yellow and white tail tang. The corals/anenome are starting to open back up as well. Now I just need to get through Christmas soI can afford to go back to the fish store!
Here are some pictures of the process and the final result. Still plenty of fine‑tuning to do, but I’m thrilled with how it turned out.
