i think I'm going to get a 525. I'd also like to maybe get a 170 to use as a frag tank so they look nice next to each other. Do you guys think the sump for the 525 can handle both tanks? Whether it be for adequate filtration or the fact if the power goes out would the sump overflow? I love my reefer 450 hence wanting to get more but just don't like the way the plumbing, sump and brace in the stand are. I'd prefer to run my own 48" timeline sump or something like that

Hi Michael,
I work at a fish store and I've installed many reefer tanks. Just because of the way the drains and returns are designed it think it would be difficult to replumb the 170 into the 525. Also, if you run the sump at the correct level, you only have about 3-4" of room to play with before it would overflow. Filtration wise I definitely think it will be able to handle the extra bioload... assuming you have a good skimmer
