switching to Red Sea blue bucket I currently have my salinity at 1.015 and I want to get it to 1.025 how much salt do I need to put in my tank?

You can use this calculator but I wouldn't suggest doing it all at once, maybe raise it up by 1PPT and let the tank settle for a few hours before adding more salt.

If you have livestock Don’t put the salt directly into your tank. Mix it with RODI and then change it out.
You can temporarily use saltwater as your top off until the salinity is at your desired level.

Best way to do it, is filling a cup with salt and putting the cup in the sump so it mixes naturally with the water and it will raise it little by little
It will take time nut you'll get there

I think the instructions are like half a cup per gallon. But just keep adding a bit, letting it mix, and testing salinity till you get to your desired level. Do NOT add salt directly to your tank.

It depends on your tank size. Probably best to read the bucket. Mix up some higher salinity water and do a water change. Or start by adding small amounts of salt into your sump in high flow. But going from where you are to 1.025 fast(aka 1 day) will kill your livestock.

To be honest I tried figuring out different calculators and failed.

I have 220 gallons, so adding a very salty 5 gallon mix to the sump didn't seem problematic to me, and it slowly raised my salinity. And when I say salty, I mixed it almost 200%. I wouldn't do this in a small/medium tank tho.

This raised my salinity very little, took 2-3 buckets to go from 1.024 to 1.025.

Clearly NOT scientific.

just added 13 cups into a 5 gallon bucket of RDI water is that enough

confused, is there fish and coral in there?

Are you trying to bring up the TANKs salinity or just your water change water? or an empty tank?

Fish can not tolerate a rapid rise in salinity.

Inverts can not tolerate 1.015

Do you mean you put the cup of salt on the bottom of the sump and let it get mixed by itself ? Or do you slowly pour it ?

Lol what?? I said HALF A CUP per GALLON. That would be 2.5 cups for a 5 gallon bucket... How in the heck did you arrive at 13 cups?!

Yes you put the cup with salt in the and it will mix by itself once it mixes check salinity and repeat if necessary. Its the best way to get from point A to A to Point B with out affecting anything.
