Hello! Iv'e had this beauty a few months now, it has been eating leftovers perfectly happy. I recently purchased a BTA. When I try and feed the BTA, the star comes rushing out to steal the silverside...any down side to feeding the star his own piece of silverside to leave the BTA alone? It literally stole the silverside off the BTA. It was crazy.

Why don't you ever feed it? Our clowns have not gone near it yet. :(
We don't feed silversides. We feed our nems LRS Reef frenzy. They like the smaller pieces. We also have a clown fish that feeds them as well. The trick to get our clownfish to go into the nem was to keep the fish as close to it as possible. After 3 days it finally touched the nem and went in shortly after.

My red serpent was destroyed by a wrasse (still haven't figured out exactly what he was) bit the legs right off of him. Going to look for another one now that that fish met his end. (he also chased my Christmas wrasse under the sand and wouldn't leave him alone!)

If your serpent is that aggressive you probably aren't feeding it enough. Mine hides mostly, extending an arm or two out of the rock, until he gets hungry. Then I see more of it. I rarely see it move across the wide open areas.
