Hi Jerfatico, These are a true Red Serpent Starfish (Ophioderma Squamosissima) Not very common at all. They are not a Smooth brittle star with a Reddish Color. The colors are no where near the same and they have different temperament and are very common. True Red Serpent Starfish on most sites are listed well above this price and are always out of stock.

I had one many years ago but don't remember them commanding such a price. Awesome color I agree.
