How the hell are you ment to get the plate off to swap sides without chewing it up?

Sorted, warmed it up with hairdryer ….

? You would just slightly depress the catches on the back. No need to pry it from the front.

I'd pop that with the plastic end of a screwdriver in the backside hole.
