Redsea 4 part dosing

Does anyone have an opinion or have used the Redsea 4 part reef care dosing system that uses the weekly calcium test results to automatically determine the correct 4 part dosing program. Just curious as to how accurate it is and if it’s something to consider for a Nanno G2 xxl.

I wouldn't use it due to the accuracy range of calcium tests. I prefer a method that's based on ALK.

I agree! Just purchased the complete NYOS dosing line to give it a try. Simplicity is the goal and the 2 part NYOS looks to possibly this by using 2 dosing heads vs the 4 or 5 typically needed. Hopeful that nyos is bringing other products to the market soon!

I’m looking to try this out for dosing. Would you recommend dosing the suggested amount and then just adjusting based off my tests after a couple of weeks?

Are you dosing anything now? If not, take an alkalinity reading, wait 3 days and test again. This will find out your consumption rate and then you can figure out your dosage. Then check alkalinity after a week of dosing and see where it falls. If it went up past your target, back off dosing as much. If it goes down, up your dosing.

I am not currently dosing but I do plan to add more coral now that I'm starting to get crystalline algae forming all over my tank. So I would like to start tracking my alkalinity and calcium to start.
Would you recommend doing my water change on my normal day then check my levels a few days after and then so on since my water change would replenish those elements?

Continue with water changes and then check alkalinity a little later. This will give you an idea where you’re at. Then test alkalinity after 3-5 days since it’s not likely dropping very much right now. Might even need to wait a week to test to really see it drop enough to figure out some dosing
