Redsea Reef-Frame

Nobody does the integration like RedSea. I think that’s why it’s so hard to just write them off. They look good and you can pay one price and have a package that works together with a single app and pre planned cable management.
I think this is why so many new to the hobby are attracted to them, and I agree. It's a darn shame they've ruined their reputation with the majority of us that know how they've handled the failures. Or worse experienced them. I was one that bought a G2 fully aware of the failures because it was sweet tank, available to ship immediately and my LFS gave me a cash price I couldn't resist. I didn't buy the max system just tank stand and plumbing.

My LFS is a Red Sea Dealer, and I did not see a ReefFrame System in the Store this weekend. I did mention to the owner that I was retiring my old RS System in the next few weeks and he asked me why.😏
But then again, he is still selling his leftover G2's to unsuspecting newbies.

I was just at top shelf aquatics and they had a few G2s they were trying to get rid of too. Crazy deals but if I were going to get one id at least want it to be euro braced regardless of the deal lol.

They had a few RS tanks that were eurobraced but I have no idea how to tell if its a G3+ or a Reef Frame (maybe there is no difference) I will say that in person the actual seams on whichever version I was looking at were quite a bit thicker than the G2s they were selling.

RedSea reliability aside, does anyone know what the difference is between the frame and the reefer g3+ is? They have a Frame and G3+ 350 that look literally identical. Did they just expand the whatever they were doing with the frames to the reefer line?
The frame is replacing some of the Reefer G3 sizes eg The Reefer 525 is longer an option, replaced by the frame 500.

So is there any tangible difference in the construction or features or is it just a different range of sizes?

As I understand it:

— G3 Reefer displays will be rimless up until the 425L size, vs. eurobraced for all Reef Frame models…

— The Reef Frame stand offers a few wood finish options vs. just black and white for the G3 Reefer…

— G3 Reefer has a metal lip at the front of the plywood stand, Reef Frame has a plywood stand, but does not have a metal front lip…

— G3 Reefers are sold in a few peninsula configurations, Reef Frame systems are all traditional layout, overflow at rear pane…

Apparently both Reef Frame and G3 Reefer tank lines are now advertising “euro silicone”… it’s still a two-part, fast-cure formula…just, from Europe?

(I can’t say that I’m particularly convinced here, given that RS also further increased glass thickness [thus structural seam thickness] vs. G2 Reefers…)

The confusing part is that they're making G3+ tanks smaller than 425 with euro bracing now. Is that an admission that the small tanks work better with it as well? Who knows. Their site is really confusing on that front. I guess on the bright side there aren't any threads on here about the euro braced tanks failing. (that I know of) Also I agree, calling their sillicone euro is kinda silly and meaningless lol

This is incredibly confusing… their website does indeed show that the smaller models of G3 reefer are eurobraced now… a recent change, perhaps…

Of sorts, yes… glass does actually bend, so a eurobrace is inherent stronger than a rimless tank! (The eurobrace ties the top corners together better, and serves as a form of rigid beam, on edge against the otherwise unsupported top of a vertical pane to prevent it from bending appreciably!)

What’s most confusing to me is the similarities between Reef Frame, and G3 Reefer tanks… given that all models of both lines are actually eurobraced; the former just seems like a slightly less expensive version of the latter, with a new name that has no troubled history behind it…

The larger Reefer models from prior generations were eurobraced, and do still fail, sadly… not necessarily at the same rate as the “smaller” rimless models, though that is likely skewed by lower total production numbers…

The jury’s still out on G3 less than one year in; one or two silicone seam issues have been reported with photographic evidence so far around here, but nobody's yet followed-up with well lit detail photos of their spot in question to confidently say if the issue is one of manufacturing defect, or silicone failure… only time will tell…

I wonder if the frame was a quiet test to see if the eurobrace fixed the issues they were having in their lineup, as well as seeing if the public would buy them if they weren't rimless. Maybe now they have internal data showing its a worthwhile change and they're going to apply the same design to the Reefers and eventually discontinue the frame?

Assuming the frame fixed their issues that seems like the way they would deal with the seam failures given their abysmal track record on transparency.

Yes with respect your question comes across like a Red Sea moderator asking for only positive reviews? Red Sea reef frame is brand new this no one has experience On The, long-term durability of the tank however they are now 3 generations where Red Sea tried to make the point that they had fixed all the issues of the previous generation so as customers all we have to go on is their past record and in my opinion so just because they say they have fixed it and mad it better than ever.. did they maybe so maybe not.. after my Red Sea reefer 350 split a seam I bought a Eshopps m130 and it’s a beast of a tank.. internal euro bracing and 3/4” glass for 130 g tank is not bad
