Redsea reefrun DC skimmer - LOUD pump

Hello,

My reefrun skimmer arrived today. I’ve set it up according to the manual, but the pump is so loud.

It’s like the impeller is vibrating in the pump housing. I’ve run the pump in a bucket and I can see the impeller shaft moving up and down in the ceramic coupling in the pump lid.

I’ve raised a ticket with Redsea but wanted to reach out to the community while I wait to hear of any similar experience or possible solutions.

It’s so loud.

Check out the video, I’m holding it in the sump and it isn’t making contact with anything. You can hear it over the water trickle!

The Sicce pumps are louder (can't watch the video right atm, but I'll check later when I feed the fish).

This sounds about like the Sicce ones that it's built on

Question - are the Varios ones much quieter?

It was a pump malfunction. Redsea replaced it and the new pump is silent.
