Redsea return chamber level fluctuation

Hi All,

Have a quick question, I have 2 return pumps connected by a Y as return on my redsea 200 G2. From time to time the level in the return pump chamber starts fluctuating then stabilizes.

I wonder if opening fully the diaphragm valve to see if something is in there. But it drives me nuts with the apex alerts

Ps: im trying to line up the graphs of the reef mat when water is released by rolling the mat or when the ato fills but they don't line up so I cant root cause to that

Out of curiosity, are both pumps running together, do they alternate, and do you have check valves at both pumps?

Hi! Yes both with check valves 357 GPH each. Both run at the same time.

If you’re sure it’s not the reefmat, or diaphragm valve (I hate those and swapped it for a gate valve), you could temporarily turn off one pump and plug the line off (just run the tank with one pump) as a troubleshooting step. If the problem persists with only one pump running (and the other line plugged), then it’s going to be something with the valve/reefmat/or pump losing pressure. If the problem disappears, the pumps could be fighting each other and a check valve could be chattering.

Also, do you have a controller (with some sort of programming) that could be shutting off one of the pumps for some random reason? Just a thought. Could be a pump overheating or otherwise shutting down and coming back online as well.

Good point, looking at the data cant see wattage dropping
