Hey everyone. I’m new to reefing I just got my first Red Sea 250v3……. 55 gallon display tank, going to set it up for a mixed reef tank. The only gear I have at the moment is Vario s2 pump. Quantum skimmer. I have a gen3 radion xr30 I picked up on a deal. Currently waiting for RO unit to arrive, and rock to start aquascaping.

Nice! Following along fellow RSR 250 here as well! It’s a great tank!
Thanks man. I’ve never done this before…. Trying to set up a mixed reef. About to start aquascaping any day now waiting for better glue/accelerator and more rock… I need to buy some power heads still. My rodi unit is on the way I hope to start filling by Saturday.

Thanks man, this is my first go at this, would you recommend mp10s or 40s or icecap gyres? Or what kind of power heads for this 55gallon
I would go mp40’s but all would work. Although you would have to double check that mp10’s can handle the wall thickness of your tank.

I have a 250 as well and I have 2 mp10s on back wall, 1 octopluse 4 on one side and a WAV pump on opposite side. There is a crazy amount of flow

Oh wow! That’s good to know I was worried about creating a sand storm with just the mp10s… I’m thinking maybe go bare bottom I have a white starboard plastic cutout for the bottom of the tank not sure if I’m going to use it yet either. Any thoughts on that ?

I’m not to familiar with the starboard tbh. There was a sand storm at first but I just let settle out on its own. In some spots it’s deeper then others.

Nice. What kind of aquascape did you do in yours?
This is 70lbs of KP aquatics live rock. I ordered to much and didn’t want it to go to waste so I just put it in there. But the fish love to swim in and out of it which is awesome

Nice tank. What kind of screen do you have over it? I need to get one of those in the near future.

Enjoy man I love my RSR 250! They fill up quickly. I was gonna add I got 2 Nero 5’s and a Nero 3. Would of gotten just a couple 3’s but they were not out back then and added the one I got later.

Man that tank looks healthy and clean, wow at all the colors. Hope I can get mine to look that nice. I’ll look into the neros also.
