Hey guys
So I have a reefer 350 and I have had a problem with Nitrates and Phosphates in the past.
I started running bio pellets. As it was easy for me to maintain as I work away.
So I got my nitrates down from 20+ to 0
But my phosphates are a different matter.
I got them from 0.27 down to 0.02 at its lowest but more steady around 0.04.

My question here is, how can I reduce my phosphates and keep them down like I have my nitrates?
It's starting to cause a few problems with some SPS now. I need to get it under control.

I've thought about carbon dosing but pellets are a easier option for my situation at he moment.

Cheers guys

I have been running GFO plus the bio pellets to keep my phosphates under control. I have gone from 20+ on the nitrates to 4 ppm and my system seem to like were I am at. I run 1/4 of the dose on the bio pellets so that I can keep my nitrates between a 3 to 5 ppm and my phosphates around .02 ppm

What size tank you got bud? And how much GFO you using?

0 no3 is not good.
You don't want po4 to lead no3
Is there any specific reason to drop your po4 under .02 ppm?

Stripping no3 and po4 does not rid a tank of algae it actually does more harm than good.

Because it's currently 0.06
And have algae issues

+1

As it turns out, nitrogen and phosphorous - including NO3 and PO4 - are directly critical to coral health. Corals have everything from dino's to cyanobacteria living inside of them and on them. When nitrogen or phosphorus get out of whack (especially phosphorus going to zero) the whole organism suffers.
