as stated above by Randy, my tank tends to run 15 to 20 on the nitrates. We do feed heavily and i carbon dose to help keep it there. But have moved away from purchasing the carbon, I DIY with vinegar and vodka. Others will chime in, with their recipe But i use 500 ml of 5% distilled white vinegar, 375 ml 80 proof (40% alcohol) unflavored vodka, and 125 ml of RO/DI water. I dose at the same amount as i did the RedSea No PoX .
Thank you!! what makes vinegar and/or vodka better than using Reef BioFuel Carbon ? and if I can would you simply stick to water changes to keep the phosphate and water levels low. I was thinking that 20-40ppm was in the dangerous range. My phospate normally range from .5-1
I am trying to get to the point where I can grow acropora sucessfully and any other coral. I rently purchase a beautiful elegance and place it at the bootm of the sandbed. I have 2 Kessil A360X Tuna Blue lights. The elegance had died. I cannot figure out i f it was the water parameters or the fact that I changes the seeting on my lights. Now I am learning all about how to ensure th best light settings.
Randy is not saying better, but its basically the same. They smell very similar once mixed also. You get simular results
my 40G is basically a softy tank, but I have a 20 AIO that i will be doing SPS in. Light requirements play a big thing with coral, maybe look into what the elegance needs, I have never had one. Tidal Gardens website may have what you need
