Reef Chemistry Question of the Day #235

You are an element, and you are in a reef tank.

You are sad...

Reefers talk all day about things that you play a critical role in, but rarely are you mentioned by name.

You feel neglected...

You can destroy a reef tank, or make it thrive.

You can change the color in the most common test kit used by reefers.

You are so strong you can dissolve coral skeletons

You comprise a vast family, with more identical twins in a reef aquarium than any other element.

What element are you?

A. Oxygen
B. Carbon
C. Hydrogen
D. Nitrogen
E. Phosphorus

Good luck!

A. Oxygen, it is highly reactive and takes many forms, 02 and 03 as well as a number of stable and unstable isotopes. Without it a aquarium is impossible, too much and it will destroy everything in the tank.

A. Oxygen (Don't see this talked about much, sometimes talked about as ozone..)

B. Carbon (Dosing, water clarification, chemical scrubbing)

C. Hydrogen (Alk/Ph)

D. Nitrogen (Most want to remove, some dose)

E. Phosphorus (Same as D)

I'll vote A. Oxygen

I guess I don't understand how O2 would be suggested?

Awesome post!

I'll say C.

But having lil to no knowledge of A. Very curious of answer with explanation.
