Reef Kinetics Reefbot Lab Support

Hello Reefers, I created this thread to help Reef Kinetics Reefbot Lab issues. I am NOT an employee of Reef Kinetics, doing this as a volunteer helper. I am currently enrolled in a Computer Engineering Program at a college. I am decent at troubleshooting hardware and software issues. I am doing this because I believe in Reef Kinetics principles of using third party test kits. I just acquired one yesterday (1/03/26) and still learning the equipment.

TEST KITS (these are the current test kits I’m using, will add more later as finances permit):
Alkalinity: Salifert
Calcium: API
Magnesium: Salifert
Nitrate: Tropic Marin Pro
Phosphate: Red Sea Pro
pH: API

Please add a post of your own issue with the current test brand and what way you are proceeding the test. I will add my own issues I occur and add a temporary fix.

Issue 1: WiFi issue. It does work, the antenna is not very strong. Reefbot must be close to the WiFi signal to use WiFi. Otherwise just purchase a cheap WiFi extender.

Issue Number 2: Rinsing chamber overflowing.

Seems if I press the “Test” button circle it runs a program where the ro remove head doesn’t activate. But if you manually press the plus sign at the bottom and do the test, the ro removing head works and doesn’t overflow. Could be bad programming associated with the “Test” button.

Only know it affects on Tropic Marin Nitrate, waiting on other test kits to arrive.

Issue Number 3: Bubbles in the testing chamber.

The high pressure of tank water through the narrow needle causes to introduce air in the testing chamber which sits on the sides of the glass causing a misreading. Temporary fix: use a stiff (can’t wobble around or it will miss the chamber and overflow) 1/8 tubing the length of the full needle and replace the needle on the sample syringe. No more air in the testing chamber which will give better reading.

Have you been able to get accurate readings with yours? Mine have all been wildly inaccurate. I’ve done multiple calibrations and tried multiple test kits, but I can’t get accurate numbers.
