for all of you DIYers out there, please shed some light on the situation:
so a couple months back i purchased a Reef Octopus BH1000 for my 29gal reef to replace the original SeaClone100. Performance wise, BH1000 is a beast and gets the gunk out of the tank. Here's my problems with this skimmer though. after months of skimming, there's still bubbles out of the output pipe regardless of what i do. i was told that it takes a period of time for the skimmer to break in and in the meantime i can always put some sponge on the overflow chamber or right on the output pipe. well, it's been months and there's still bubbles coming out of it. any idea on this?
2nd problem: the clear casing on the intake doesn't fit snuggly with the surface-skimming plastic (not the intake shaft). it's just a hairline wider than it should do. therefore if any fish or accidental movement to the input, the clear casing would fall off. i have a similar problem with the output pipe where it's too tight. but i was able to sand it down to fit better. but for the life of me, i can't find out how to add more width to a plastic or PCV. i can't replace anything since i don't see a readily made replacement anywhere. see the red circles in the pictures if my explanation isn't clear. please help.
