I ordered the Reef Octopus Regal 200SSS Skimmer last week and yesterday it arrived as the Regal 200S skimmer (not SSS).

Does anyone know if there's a difference? Most online stores show the SSS, but a couple show the S, and at a hundred dollars more expensive. Reef Octopus's website only shows the S and not the SSS.

The reasons this is a concern is that for one, if they're not the same then I didn't get what I ordered.
For another, I want to get the Reef Octopus cone cleaner attachment, but it does not explicitly mention compatibility with the Regal 200S.

Interesting question. The specs for the Regal 200SSS on most US online retailers match the specs on the Regal 200S on the Reef Octopus site. I vaguely remember seeing this with other Reef Octopus skimmers (e.g., S vs SSS). I believe that they are the same (possibly different marketing for different regions?), but I would be curious if you find out differently.

@Connor At CoralVue - do you have any idea about the difference between the S and SSS models of the Reef Octopus skimmers?

If it has the VarioS-4S Controllable Pinwheel Pump on the inside of the body, and a float valve I think you have the right one. I think where the confusion may be coming from is that on coralvues site the classic skimmers with the internal pump are labeled as SSS, but the regals are just labeled as “S”, but includes in the description “SSS” (space saving skimmer).
Maybe the online stores are just using the term “SSS” for both, which is Very confusing
Both are Space Saving Skimmers, though.

That was my first thought about the Classic SSS vs the Regal S, but several online retailers list the Regal as an SSS.

For example:

I must have been editing my post as you were adding this one!
When I was on Coralvues site it is listed only as S. Maybe coralvue recently changed its name?

Exactly, I must have been editing my post as you were adding this one!
I think the online retailers are incorrectly adding SSS in the model number.
I definitely agree with this and it is my working assumption until someone points out otherwise.

I’ve been reefing since the late 90’s and had the Regal 150 around 5 years. This has been the best skimmer I’ve ever run.

I ordered it from the Coralvue outlet store and it was listed as the SSS, but that model isn't listed anymore to confirm.
My receipt says SSS and the box and skimmer just say S.

I'm about 99% sure they're the same, but the neck cleaner is $200 and I don't want to get it and find out it doesn't work.

I have a ticket in with Coralvue to confirm.

I agree, but please let us know what you find out. I several Reef Octopus skimmers and have noticed this before and have asked the question but have never received a definitive answer.

Let me clarify this while ensuring our support team is available to review photos for confirmation:

Reef Octopus Classic Skimmers with the pump housed inside the body have model numbers ending in -S.
Reef Octopus REGAL Skimmers equipped with a controllable VarioS pump have model numbers ending in -SSS.
Exceptions to this naming convention:

Classic 150-SSS
Classic 110-SSS
These exceptions are cylinder skimmers that use the SSS (Super Space Saver) designation to highlight their compact design.

Thanks for replying and for the record, the skimmer you guys sold me is fantastic. My only question was on the model number so that I get the right neck cleaner. However, that's a moot point now as I just bought a lid that accommodates the feed back to the CO2 scrubber.

Here is the instruction manual cover. The box and skimmer also say 200S.

Note also that the Octo website does not list an SSS version. Maybe this is their new naming convention?
