I'm looking to build a floating refugium in my sump as the sump water level can change dramatically if the return shuts off. I have a nice pond plant basket to use but am looking for a floating material to use around the edges or to make a frame out of so it will float with water level changes. I previously used a refugium box magnetically attached to the side of my sump but several return shut offs later and all the macro algae has been sucked upstairs to the DT. Any other creative ideas?

Pond foam floats. A water fall ATS would also work and not have that problem.

Thanks for the tips. I am really looking for a refugium more than a ATS. Ill have to track down pond foam. Is pond foam reef safe?

Yes it’s reef safe. You can find it at the hardware store.
