Hi,

Can Red Sea help explain to me the following phenomenon:

The pH specs for Reef Spec carbon says pH>8 in distilled water.
When I first put a fresh batch of Reef Spec carbon in my media reactor, I immediately notice my pH shoot up to 8.4.
Why does this happen?

Is it filtering out acidic organics (amino acids, etc.?) or the carbon is physically made to be higher in pH?

Thank you.
