I'm looking for a replacement pump for the skimmer. ReefDynamics is out of business and aquarium course or Titan has some replacement parts for the skimmers. My question is , is there a alternative beside there pump. The replacement upgrade on there site is a sicce pump for 188.00. you can get a new ins80 for 174.00 with the same upgrade pump. Either way I can't justify the cost given I only paid 275.00 for skimmer new.
They used to use a sedra 3500 modified pin wheel and venturi.
I can get this for 100.00.
My question has any one tried this on a stock skimmer pump and attached to a reef dynamics skimmer not being modified

What's wrong with your pump? Dead impeller or something else?

Just curious.

Tunze has a Hydrofoamer that'll work on your skimmer if you decide to allocate that budget.

It's worth considering that although the body of the skimmer takes up all the space and all the glory, it's the pump that does all the work and has the potential to break down....the original pump is really where most of your $275 went. So spending for a Sicce or Tunze isn't really as crazy as it seems. The real bummer is that you can't get replacement parts for your pump.....most of the time it's just a worn out impeller.

That's the upside if you do spend on a Tunze....they aren't going out of business anytime soon, so parts won'y be an issue...and parts from them tend to be very reasonably priced.

The Sedra should work, but I can't say for sure about adapters you may or may not need. I positive this has been tried by someone before though....more googling.
