So I yesterday I got a flame angle that is smaller then my purple tang. The purple tang wouldn't let him out of the rocks so I put a mirror on the side of the tank to help with aggressiveness of the purple tang. He has been fighting himself for over 8 hours should I leave the mirror till he is done or should I remove it
I believe you can leave it for a week or 2 until the purple calms down

I missed this somehow.. that is crazy! What did you end up doing?

So I found that it really only releases stinging cells when it was disturbed. Basically, I moved it to it's own little island away from everything else and avoid disturbing it.

Ironically, it's one of the few corals that is currently able to battle the dinos. It's not looking good, but it's surviving.

Wow, very interesting! Do you want me to send that bottle of dino x? I can't recommend it as I've never used it but if you'd like it I'll send it your way

So I was doing some more research today(as is the life of someone who owns a dino farm), and it turns out my first time using dr. tims I was using the instructions for getting rid of cyno and not the one for dinos.

I'm going to give the proper instructions another shot and see if I can't beat it with dr. tims as the dino instructions looks to dose more aggressively.

But if that doesn't work, I'll give dino x a shot.

I'm not a huge fan of putting things in my tank to treat problems (the one exception to that is clean up crew - I love adding natural consumers of problem algae). My gut tells me that using chemicals to treat problem species instead of changing the conditions that led to them taking hold is just going to lead to something else taking their place.

Not so much reefing related as Reef2Reef related, but does anyone know if there is an app? I thought I remembered there being one but now I cannot find it.

Ok so I am stumped. I have a fast growing slime type algae that I can't figure out what it is. It is mostly on the sand bed but it grows like crazy on my power heads. I have seen it on some rock but not much. I have attached a pic. I know it's not red slime as chemiclean didn't do anything to it. I have turned my lights down and it has slowed it but worried about my corals. Parameters are no3 17.3 po4. 02
Kh 9.2 CA 410 and mag 1480 and salinity 1.024

I know there are multiple types of cyano but can we eliminate the possibility of dinos? Parameters wouldn't necessarily point towards it but the slime part worries me a little bit. @vetteguy53081 @Tamberav , any thoughts?

Looks to me more like dino than cyano. Follw this dino recipe which will also work on dino:
Prepare by starting with a water change and blow this stuff loose with a turkey baster and siphon up loose particles.
Turn lights off (at least white and run blue at 10-15% IF you have light dependent corals) for 5 days and at night dose 1ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide per 10 gallons for all 5 nights. If you dont have light dependent coral- turn all lights off.
During the day dose 1ml of liquid bacteria (such as bacter 7 or XLM) per 10 gallons.
Clean filters daily and DO NOT FEED CORAL FOODS OR ADD NOPOX as it is food for dinos.
Day 5,, you can start with blue lights - ramping up and work your white lights up slowly

Wondering if anyone has a 120 jebao gyre on a 4 ft tank I'm thinking it is a little much for the tank and I can't seem to find a good resonance to get a good back and forth in the tank. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
