Reefmat smells.

Ive either become nose blind or im lucky and my rolls don’t smell.

Curious, those who can smell it, how dry or rather wet is your take up reel?

I have a reef factory M size, and my take up reel is always dry. Im theorizing that if yours is rolling up more often and the portion out of the water is damp, that could be the reason for the smells.

I think they are designed to roll slow so that the portion just coming from below the water line, dries completely before it rolls up on itself, so the rolled portion should always remain dry and have lower or no odors.

I don't know if it's just the model I have or not, but you can put media bags in the ReefMat 250 too

There’s a tiny compartment underneath that you can put stuff in there but it’s extremely small compared to socks. And it’s a ROYAL PITA to change it out… I put purigen in there and change it out when I give the unit a clean every 4 months, but socks are better for it.
