Hi,

My 30 GAL aquarium has been doing well, but starting last week I start seeing this brownish film algae in the refugium. Today when I checked I saw some bubbles on the water heater as well. Does anyone have any ideas what the issue may be? I’ve been changing the water (20%) every 2 weeks, including replacing the main filter, cleaning the skimmer and washing the refugium sump foam. Thanks again!

Welcome to R2R! How long has the tank been running? Any signs of this in the display?

I had the tank running for almost 3 months at my house. I bought it as an already established reef tank. I see no issues in the main display aquarium. Someone suggested that it may be the “refugium gassing”, but I am not entirely sure what that supposed to mean.

Not sure what it means either.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
