What in the world is going on with my fuge?

Like does it look healthy? First time with a fuge....but my cheato seems to die or get really mooshy....got 3 mangroves left out of 5. These three have roots. My DT has dusty brown on the sand surface. Not all of it but in certain areas....2 walls on my DT look like my fuge.

What kind of light are u running? And in my opinion you need a circulation pump. Chaeto especially, but most macro algae love a strong flow. :-)
Also mangroves can be hard. I grow all kinds of macros. Cant grow a mangrove to save my life.

Well they got roots so I think something is right for the mangroves.....and I'm running a spot grow 50w indoor plant bulb.

What kind of pump? My fuge is 12"x16"

My chaeto really took off when I added the pump. If you add flow and its still unhappy, I would look at lighting. Cyano (brown film) is from high nutients and low. This is my fuge. So you know I have a little background. :-)

In a tank that size any small pump should be fine. :-)

Wow.....lol so is my fuge dying or is it ok? And what kind of pump?

Hmmmm ok. My fuge is part of my sump too. I got a protein skimmer too in the dump from DT

No. Its fine. Just needs a lil adjusting. :-) a maxi jet or koralia. And kind is fine. I use maxi jet 1200.

I'm not familiar with that bulb. I use t5 or power compact. Its a plant bulb. Should be ok. What's the spectrum?

Also cleaning yalls sump fuge and DT.....I was told to just do my water changed from the fuge? But I have to clean my DT right?

Clean? Keep glass clean, rocks clear of debris and light vacuuming. Yes.

How can I clean the rocks? Like scrub them?
