Regal angel

I’m curious what everyone feels is the best option for me? I currently run a 380ish reef (120”x33”x22”) with some tangs (2 yellow, one purple, one powder blue and one heptus) and a blue line angel. A couple anthias and cardinals round out the fish population. I have a regal angel on hold that is in QT right now and am now second guessing myself that this is a good decision. Of course these fish are stunning and I know they have been kept successfully in reefs...but am I setting this fish up for a beating and death sentence? My blue line angel gets very little attention from the tangs and goes about his day. The tangs do squabble amongst themselves but generally get along ok. Thoughts? Tank is about a year old and has sps and some lps which I realize could take a bit from a new angel but I’m willing to risk that. The fish well being is my main concern here.

As long as you have plenty of liverock for the regal to graze on and hide in it will be fine. My regals have always got along with my tangs and other angels

Only 1 way to tell, as the saying goes. If it eats it should be OK as they tend to be a little shy. The blue line is a different shape which also helps.

Just make sure the regal is eating prior to putting it into the display. I added one to a tang gang, but it was the first of the angels (more since).

Regals start very shy and are supposed to be put in before tangs or other angels

Which is one and main reason I’m asking. I know there are always risks.

Socially acclimate it - that is your best shot.

First put it in a large acclimation box WITH A PVC FOR IT TO BE ABLE TO HIDE.

Or/next, separate a section of your tank with a clear piece of egg crate.... and put your Regal on one side and the other fish on the other.

So the other fish, and your Regal can get to know each other safety.

Depending on the fishes (yeah it's the right term) it could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks (or longer).

DO NOT JUST DUMP YOUR REGAL IN!
