Hello everyone I have a larger Wild Regal Angel I’ve had in QT for about 5 weeks I’ve done 1 general cure treatment and a prazipro treatment within 3 weeks . When it arrived it was fat but took about a week and half to get eating pellets and clams After the last prazi treatment he seems to have a weaker appetite but still eating. I started Fritz copper last week and ramped up to 2.3 over 4 days. Since Monday he’s been in 2.3 and seemed fine however barely interested in food. Today I come home from work and he’s huddled in the corner slightly labored breathing and not very active. I performed a 35% water change with non copper treated water and the fish seemed to perk up however it’s back n the same position and had sits head to the bottom and tail up.

Any ideas how I can help ?
Currently
copper is down to 1.35
Salinity 1.025
Temp 77.6
Ammonia 0

Thanks in advanced

Do you have a second way to test ammonia other than the Seachem badge?

I’ve used coppersafe on these with now issues, that may not be the cause.

Confirm ammonia levels with a reliable test kit such as Hanna or Salifert brand and coppersafe which is safe for them starts to take effect at 2. ppm and of no protection for fish at 1.5ppm. 2.2 recommended and how are you testing copper level?
Also add air stone to the QT tank

Copper was at 2.3 for 4 days however down to 1.3 now after water change today. Testing with Hanna for copper and API for ammonia. Has had a large hockey puck airstone since day one.

Tested with API test yesterday and today.
Good - that with the Seachem badge can rule ammonia out as an issue.

I’d give it 24 hours in the low copper water to see if there is any improvement. I don’t believe that’s the issue, but since the copper has been lowered, you might as well see how it plays out.
