This tank went a year + without a water change, big mistake. When I measured two weeks ago the phosphate was 1ppm. I imagine it was higher before the water changes and intense cleaning. I have been doing regular water changes weekly or 2x weekly for the past month. The tank is two years old but transferred rock and sand from five-year-old tank. Thanks. At what level do you run your phosphate and how long have you run it at that level. Phosphate is algae food. Light is algae food. Maturity and stability usually make that stuff go away.
The algae seems to be a hair algae. A healthy Mexican turbo could remove from the rock pretty quickly.
Any idea? I agree the filaments look a bit thicker and shorter.I beg to differ. I do not think that is GHA.
I have a turbo that doesn’t seem to do anything with it, the algae hasn’t grown since I started water changes again but hasn’t really shrank either. The algae seems to be a hair algae. A healthy Mexican turbo could remove from the rock pretty quickly.
looks like (wire) turf algae to meAny idea? I agree the filaments look a bit thicker and shorter.
Thanks for this, it definitely seems like this is the algae I have. I found a link: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/wiry-algae-treatment-and-id.695673/ . I just ordered some fluconazole after reading a couple threads of maybe success.looks like (wire) turf algae to me
