Regulator for Calcium Reactor

I have been dosing BRS two part, but now that my calcium demand is getting higher as my colonies grow, I have decided to switch to a Calcium Reactor. I bought a used Geo 618 that came with a JBJ regulator. I am totally new to Calcium reactors, and have been reading articles on how to set one up. During my readings, I noticed many recommend the aquarium plants electronic regulator. Is this reactor really that much better? I also wanted to make sure this is the one here. Should I purchase it before setting up my reactor or would I be able to get it going on the jbj regulator and then easily just switch to the aquariumplants regulator?
