This kitchen is in my basement on concrete. Do I need to reinforce the cabinet for a Waterbox 6025 witch is about 150 gallons? This peninsula looks better built than the stand under my 120 gallon tank.

How much room will the tank take up of that countertop?
The thing that concerns me most is the corners don’t look to be very supported on there

I wouldnt trust it personally.
The corner has literally no support as its hanging out past the base frame
The line i drew is where the weights going to push down.

I would definitely frame that up on the inside. That formica top is probably made out of chipboard, if so I wouldn't use that at all. Have you ever seen chipboard get wet?

I would suggest reinforcing the frame and going with another top

Yeah I’ve been using the kitchen as a fish room and the top is still in good shape. I don’t plan on using anything underneath for the sump so it should stay dry.

the counter top looks like it could be chip board, reacts very badly to water.
that looks like a decent spot for a tank. imo i would probably remove that part of the counter cabinets and build a proper stand, and skin it to match the cabinets.
So if I promise to keep the countertop dry would a frame on the outside like this be enough?

I might would do some bracing to the inside top to give it some structure in the center.

The cabinet has a support in the center and I don’t see an easy way to add one with keeping the cabinet working like normal. I got all of the cabinets from a remodel and installed them my self so if something happens it’s all on me and I won’t be too mad as long as the tank doesn’t break. As I fill the tank I should be able to see anything bad happening.

Just fill it slow and test as you go. Sounds like you got confidence in this.
