Going back 30 years, I was going home thru New Orleans after a 21 day work hitch on the Queen of the Fleet. The Discovery Seven Seas had set the deep water drilling record at 7500’ in1977.

In those days our selection for coral was sparse. When I saw the florescence of Green Sinularia, I had to have it. Aquatic Specialist was my favorite LFS and Chipp was always the BEST. When he told me that he was aquaculturing as an experiment and it was not really for sale, I challenged him with, “What would he take to sell it”. He laughed and said $50 for a frag that was little more than a match head. I stunned him when I told him to bag it.

Edwards Plateau was a shallow inland sea 300 million years ago. With limestone bedrock, the mineral content of Trinity Aquifier approaches limewater with a TDS at 1000ppm. These minerals grow macro algae as well as coral.

@Jomama The two big reasons I prefer evaporative cooling to refrigeration chillers: low upfront cost but must importantly, I have no need to dose supplemental minerals to grow coral.

Absorption for cooling --- same as RV fridge and very effective.
Just a lot of piping, hoses and lines everywhere.
