When I started my tank I put few of those beginner, inexpensive anthias. Now, I am slowly adding those more expert, expensive ones and want to remove those beginners out from the tank. What is the “best” way to do that?

If they are aggressive eaters, then a small baited hook.

Be more specific please. Beginner = Lyretails, something else? Why do you think they need to be removed?

Yup Lyretails. I want to add more fancy color ones. Remove them so I can have more others and don’t need to feed as much.

Most other "pretty" anthias still need frequent feedings.

I've had luck with a small barbless hook, although I haven't ever kept anthia.

I would guess that the "high and dry" method would work well with them.
