Removing glass

Just got this tank want to remove the glass on top with out breaking anything else. 1/2” thick. Any ideas?

You say removing it, but you are planning to put it back in right? The reason I ask is that you should be able to take it out pretty easy cutting through the silicone but structually you will still need center bracing of some kind to hold the tank together. The center brace is what keeps the front pane from bowing under pressure, rimless tanks are made to withstand this, but not framed ones.

I agree with kirblit. The middle panel prevents the glass from bowing out. Removing it would be risky.
 
What you can do is remove it and then go and have some glass cut to go around the perimeter of the tank like euro bracing. That way you get rid of the center pain of glass and have an open top . I have done several times
 
Oh the glass that goes around the perimeter needs to be the same thickness of the rest of the glass
