Resealing a Tank

I've read up on the subject, watched videos. Seems like a pretty easy thing to do. Looks like I may have an opportunity to try it for myself. I'm getting my hands on a free, leaky 50 gallon. Glass is intact, just a leaky seal.

My question, which I haven't seen mentioned anywhere, is when resealing a tank, do you have to do the entire tank, or just the one panel that leaks?

I recommend that you reseal the entire tank. New silicon often doesn't seal well to old silicone so the spots where the new and old meet would be potential issues.

I've resealed several tanks and on a 20 gallon I did just one panel. It never caused any issues where the new silicone met the old, but it was a new tank and I wouldn't risk doing it on anything larger.
