So this coral skeleton was in the cryptic zone of my filtration for many years. I think it came in from a nano tank someone gave me years ago and I threw it in my sumps cryptic zone(or as I like to call it the pet sematary!!!) a few months ago I pulled this and some other ruble out to use as mounts for some small corals, I recently saw some polyps on it and thought it was just more ricordea which have been reproducing sexually in the tank and there’s babies everywhere. After closer inspection it appears these polyps are actually not Ricordea but instead some kind of encrusting coral (2+2), it appears it’s the coral skeleton regenerating. I personally have never seen this before. It looks like maybe cyphastrea? Yellow polyps with a green base so far. Anybody out there ever see a coral return from the dead? I will keep updating as it grows.

I always love seeing coral seemingly come back from the dead!

Now that it’s growing in it appears to maybe be a meteor shower cyphastrea. I’ve never had one of these before. Is it typical for some of the new growth to have a yellow tone to it?
