I’m building a 200 gallon reef tank with a sump in my basement. To overcome head pressure and required flow, the pumps I have gotten require 1 1/4” return lines back to the display tank.

My local reef shop tells me there are only 3/4” return nozzles on my tank. If I reduce the 1 1/4” down to 3/4”, doesn’t that reduce my flow considerably? Are there adapters that would allow full flow through the
1 1/4” line?

Am I overthinking this?

The tank probably has 3/4 inch bulkhead (through wall) fittings?

One 1-1/4 split in two to feed Two 3/4 returns is probably the simplest solution with minimal head loss.

Otherwise, plug the 3/4 holes and bring the return pipe over the top and into the tank.

I have the bulk head sized with 2 ea
1 1/4” returns. Are there adapters that can knock each of the 1 1/4” into 2 ea. 3/4” nozzles for a total of 4 ea 3/4” nozzles?

Thank you for your interest.
