Hello,

I have a 20g tank that was previously drilled for the eshopps eclipse medium size overflow (1” drains on the overflow box). I’m going to be using a trigger 26 sump a few feet directly below the tank. Doesn’t seem like I need much of a return pump to get good turn over. I have an eheim that is ~800 gph but was considering downsizing to a sicce ~300gph.

I would like to drill a hole for the return. What size hole and bulkhead would you recommend? Also which pump option?

Last thing, does anyone know what the return nozzle is in the photo below?

Thanks!

I agree that 3/4" w/ locline would be the right size for the return. If it were me, I would look into the Sicce Syncra SDC 3.0 (265 gph - 800 gph) DC pump. It will allow you the flexibility to dial in the right flow for your system.

Thanks for the quick responses! Just confirming that the piece below in 3/4” is what I would need? And then I do PVC w/ elbow on the outside of the tank into that. Is that the right approach?

I’d say you’re on the right path with 3/4 and I was also going to say a controllable dc return pump is absolutely the way to go, ease of use and adjustability is outstanding!

Deff go with a controllable DC return pump. I’ve used one for years and its a great way to control noise from the overlow as well by dialing the flow rate in perfectly.
