I have a 84"x30"x25" peninsula tank build happening in my near future. I've ordered the tank and I'm not starting to think about equipment. I need opinions on a return pump.

I was looking at a Reeflo barracuda pump. I will have about 7ft total head height considering joints etc. It seems like the reeflo pumps are reliable..? I should also note this pump will live in a fish room, not under the stand.

Overall, I'm looking for long term reliability. I appreciate any feedback!

I use Iwaki 55rlt for somewhat more head. Probably you could do the next size down- I think the number is 40.

I had a reeflo a long time ago- it was fine but the seals leaked. Iwaki is bombproof.

What size tank do you run this pump on? I was looking at iwaki pump specs online. I will have dual 1" returns and it seems like the iwaki 55rlt might not get to 10x or 5x turn over... I may be better with the 70 or 100 rlt... ?

Yeah, I don't have that kind of turnover. I have the 55 going about 12 feet to a 200 reef, and a couple of feet to a 180 frag tray. I don't feel the need for a huge amount of turnover through the sump though.

Been happy with Ecotech Vetra. I'm using the L1 but there's a new updated version L2.

His head pressure is pretty low so that will probably work. I tried an L1 and it could barely deliver anything to the 2nd floor.

My new tank will have a coast to coast overflow with two 1.5" overflows and two 1" returns. Maybe I should go dual return pumps? With that I think i can go lighter on each pump. Maybe 2 or 3x turnover. Also, adds redundancy. I could also go submersible since my head pressure is pretty light. What are your thoughts?
