I've tried searching through this forum but haven't really come across someone talking about the issue I am having. I'm concerned that my return pump in my sump may be going out. It sounds as if the motor ceases for a few seconds periodically throughout the day. It happens at random intervals.

Goes a little something like this...

regular humming of the return pump....quick loud hum....regular humming... loud hum...loud hum...regular hum....loud hum.

Thoughts? Has anyone come across this? If so, did you attempt to open up the motor to fix the issue? Or is it better to purchase a new one? I was thinking of opening up the motor to see if there is a deposit build up I can clean off with a wire brush or add grease to the motor somehow. Just wondering if it's even possible/worth it with these underwater pumps.

THANKS!

Usually disassemble and soak in vinegar to remove the deposits and put back in service. You. Shouldn't need to add any grease.

What pump do you have?
