Return pump

Hey guys, setting up 125g with 35 gallon sump/refugium. Looking at return pumps now. Height from floor to top of tank is about 4ft 2in. Would the reef octopus VarioS-2 be enough with Max gph of 792? That give over 6x turnover. Looking at dialing it down to get 3-5x turnover for flow through sump. Would that be the optimal flow?

I would go a bit larger on the return if you plan on running a reactor. You can always dial it back if it's too much flow.

I've got a BRS carbon/gfo reactor with its own pump. Does that matter?

How many GPH is your skimmer rated for?

Referring to the air draw? Around 250-350 gph.

The skimmer should have a GPH for the pump rating.
You should also take into consideration how many 90's you have as well as the head.
The VarioS 2 has a return head of 410 GPH @ 4.8 ft for a straight run, add elbows and you will see additional drop in your return. JMHO.

A mag drive 9 or eheim 1262 should give you that turn over ratio.....

Thanks for the input. The air draw is the only gph rating I'm finding with this skimmer.
