Majority of the corals have paled out due to the nitrates reading at 0.2 mg/L (Salifert) and phosphates at 0.02 ppm (Hanna Checker) so I started dosing KZ Amino Acid's and Sodium Nitrate to help dirty the tank up. I also stopped dosing vodka because the tank water was getting too clean. I would normally clean the glass of the green slime algae every other day and with vodka I would clean the glass once a week.

I recently upgraded my 40 gallon frag tank to an 80 gallon rimless a month ago, here are a few pictures.

I finally finished going bare bottom, it took about ten 30 gallon water changes but I finally managed to remove all of the sand from my display tank. The colors have been getting better each week as well, I believe the detritus that floats around the tank due to the extra flow is helping to feed my corals.

I took a few shots with the brand new Canon 5D Mark IV, the detail in the photos is very good compared to the Nikon D5100 but the color rendering is very similar.

I borrowed an unopened Apogee MQ-500 quantum meter to test the PAR readings on both of my tanks. The metal halide bulbs on the 120 gallon are 9 months old and the T5's are and the bottom of the metal halide pendant is 9.75" above the water surface. The bulbs on the 80 gallon are 11 months old and the bottom of the Sunpower is 8.5" above the water surface.

The next day I replaced both of the Hamilton 20K metal halide bulbs but kept the same T5's running. The bottom of the metal halide pendant is 9.75" above the water surface and PAR increased on average 23% versus the 9 month old metal halide bulbs. The left metal halide ballast is drawing 269 watts and the right side is drawing 257 watts.

These corals are looking amazing. At one point didn't you have a large PC Superman? If so, what happened?

Yes, I have started over a few times as the corals grow quickly. I started in 2006 and this is my fourth time starting with frags. Once the corals grow too big I cut them out and start over again.

Beautiful corals.

In 1 of your sale thread, you have share that your light consists of: 5 Blue Plus, 2 Coral Plus and 1 Purple Plus. Per the recent pics, are you still using the same bulbs? If so, how are they arrange..front to back? Thank you for your time.

The 80 gallon rimless now uses a ATI Sunpower 8x54w T5 fixture.
Front to Back bulb combo:
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Actinic
ATI Coral Plus
ATI Coral Plus
ATI Actinic
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Blue Plus

I am going to try swapping out one of the Coral Plus for a Blue Plus or Actinic for a more blue look. I took out the Purple Plus because it made the tank look too red.
