Okay, I'm going to be adding dosing pumps to my setup and wanted to make sure that my RKL was up to speed. The version it was running was either 1.03 or 1.10, I don't remember now. I ran the update though my reef, I followed the directions to the "T". I encountered no problems during the update process. When all was said and done, I did the required factory reset and it booted right up.

Here's where it has me concerned: When the head unit came back to life, the display showed the date/time and none. Now, every 39 seconds the display changes and says ReefKeeper Lite, second line says 2.07 and it has a "O" rolling back and forth, then scrolls through the module lights, then back to the date/time screen. Also, the Status light on the PB is flashing red. Right now the only thing plugged in is the iTemp temperature probe.

I'd like to get this figured out by the time my dosing pumps get here. I don't trust the RKL at this point and don't want to nuke my tank!

Thanks in advance

I was going to post this on the DA forum, but for some reason my account was "manually deactivated". I figured I would get more traffic here anyway.

Try a hard reset through the settings on the display

I would try the rest again. Did you unplug the power bar when upgrading software? Did you also upgrade the power bar?

Didn't upgrade the power bar. When the head unit was updated, it was only connected to the SID.

The power bar may have to be upgraded as well. Sounds like the rkl isn't seeing the power bar

Plug the power bar in and see if there is an update if not try until plugging the power bar from the wall and from the head unit, then plug the bar into the wall and let it power up then plug the rkl into it

You definitely need to update every module. If your system was running an older firmware version, all modules and the head unit would need to be upgraded to the same firmware release. Update all of your modules, individually and then hook everything back up and do the reset. As far as your registration on the DA forum goes, PM me your user name and I will reset it.

When I opened my reef it said that there is an update for the SID, version AA.A0 of 2.08 - however, when I try to retrieve it , each time it says that it failed. Now my head unit isn't even recognized.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile! I finally got it to recognize the pc4, it took the update and the status light is now green. The HU is no longer acting up either. What a pain in the butt though! This whole process actually had me second guessing myself!

Thank you to Up2no6ood and DaveMorris for the help. I'll look you guys up when it comes time to program the settings for my dosing pumps!

Are you going to use the DP1 module or just use them on a PC4? If you use the DP1 each one counts as a module and they require a special buss cable to isolate the dosing pump power from the rest of the buss if used on a RKL system. It will interfere with the iTemp if the special cable is not used. Just let DA know when you order the DP1 that is going to be used with a RKL system.

I had planned on just using the PC4, for now at least. Is that not a good idea? The doser's are BRS if that matters. I will have my heater plugged into one outlet and then the dosing pumps taking up another two.

Are you dosing kalk? I have mine setup as a ato and it works great! I would recommend an sl1 to monitor the ph when dosing.

Make sure that your dosers are on channels 1 and 4, NOT 2 or 3. 1 and 4 use mechanical relays and will not get stuck in the ON position. This is sometimes an issue with 2 and 3 when they are powering low current devices like dosing pumps and Aqualifters. Channels 2 and 3 use solid state triacs instead of relays.
