Hey Folks,

I recently purchased the BRS 6 stage universal plus RO/DI system.

I'm thinking of places to install it on a wall. I don't have a garage at this time.... soon.... do you think just installing it outside is okay? I'm assuming we want it out of the sun as much as possible. I have a location that is closest to my tank and is protected from the sun.

Thoughts?

thanks

Yes, you can do it. Mine lived on my back porch for almost a year before I mounted it in my garage. You will need to keep in mind freeze protection in colder climates, and keeping the sun off of it as much as possible will help.

Awesome! I just set mine up outside. ZERO WASTE! California reefer here :)

Still need to drill it to the wall but here it is! I have the RO output line coming into my sliding glass door going into a 35gal trash can (temporarily, until it is full, then i'll make saltwater, use, and move the can back outside).

Heres the best part:
My "waste" line is going to a rain barrel up on the upper yard so i can water my plants with the water and not feel bad!

Going to bolt it to the wall behind the tree branch tomorrow!

Absolutely. When my RO/DI unit was on the back porch, I just ran the waste water over the edge of the porch and watered the grass :). The wastewater is still okay for topping off my 10 gallon Betta tank :)

For your betta, remember that the waste water will contain concentrated minerals, possibly toxic metals, and who knows what else. Without frequent water changes, your dkh and pH may climb quite high.

Yeah, I don't do it always. Most of the time I just topoff with DI water. He's a tough turd....looking really good with the varied diet I've been giving him :)
