So I've asked this on a couple fb pages and now I figured I'd ask here.

I am Looking to run clear vinyl hose from my RO tank for water changes which is about 50' away. My question is, does the vinyl hose have to be food grade? Does Fda approved mean that it's food grade? Cost is a huge difference between food grade and non food grade. Also any recommendations where to get such hose on the interwebs? I need about 50 to 60' of 3/4" hose.

People on the other pages are saying to save money and just use White Rv hose. That's is 5/8" where my 700 GPH pump is 3/4" exit . If I use a reducer, how will that effect the power of my pump? My RO tank is on the same level with my aquarium, with the exception of going up about 4' to the top of my tank. Will my pump even have enough power to push the water that far?

My preference is to use the clear vinyl hose though.

Thanks in advance

What about using pvc for the majority of the run, then vinyl on the ends? I'm not sure about the food grade deal, but know a lot of people use whatever is cheapest at the big box stores. If it's rodi water, I would be less concerned than say dosing lines, with calcium and alkalinity in them. You could always usw a tds meter to check in on it.

Does your pump list max head height? I wouldn't reduce the pipe size, unless I had no other options.

It's got to be able to be put away. The Ro is in the garage and aquarium is in my living room.

I believe my pump has a head height of about 12'

I personally use a white RV/Marine hose to get the water from my mixing station to the tank. I did replace the fittings to the plastic ones as I use the same hose to pump saltwater. Yes, I did have to reduce the pump outlet to accept a 3/4" to hose adapter. Sure it reduces the flow but I don't worry about it because it's not a constant run application.

I think you should be fine with that distance using a 750gph pump with max head height of 12'. Should be pretty decent flow. I would assume fda means it's food grade. Sounds like @dbl uses that rv hose with no issues!
