I have hard of a LOT of people burning out the old DOS when they tried to use it as a Auto Water Change.
I would probably use a Kaomer high vol. peristalic pump if you needed exact dosage, or you can probably put a water sensor for high and low in your sump, and have some form of pump or valve to discharge water as each sensors was triggered.

But i would definitely not use an expensive as heck DoS, and burning out a new QD even for this type of task would just eat at me.

They even recommend against using a DoS for Kalk Stirrers, but i think many of us are doing that, but i would call that probably the upper limit for a DoS.
The new dos qd is what I’m using. So far so good. Have you heard how quick ppl are buying out the DOS? 2-3 years? How many gallons are they changing per day?

I’m interested in reading threads about the DOS crapping out.

what i remember is they would die right as the warrenty period expired on them, which ticked a lot of people off. I remember it got bad to a point where someone on the forum even tried a group buy on the replacement stepper motor for these guys so you could replace them.

If you do a bit of search, i am sure you will see a lot of threads here in R2R in regards to it.

But everyone tells me, for something that heavy, always get the Kamoer, as its much easier to just replace the stepper motor on those guys and its always available.... well they used to, but YMMV with tarrifs, as we lost a few good cheap things during it.

For example i am really hitting my head on the wall for not picking up more salinity monitors for my Apex, because now i have to buy the real ones for almost 3x the price of the Chinese ones which worked just as fine.

First week without doing a water change. I’m changing about 4.5 gal per day now. It took me less than 10 minutes to drain the dirty and fill with some fresh saltwater

look around the eaves of the house for attic vents, one might be in a spot where you could tap directly into a gutter downspout!
I am confused as to why you wanted to mount a return pump inside the saltwater tank. It would be easier to put a 1/4" line in the tank and let the DOS do the work.

The return pump would have gone into the dirty water bin to quickly pump it out. Decided to use gravity instead. It takes about 15 minutes to drain 45 gallons.

The automatic water change has been a game changer but I’ve been dealing with fluke treatments so I’ve had to turn it off periodically buts it’s nice to just program to to do a quick 10 gallon change per day.

So at this time I haven’t had the opportunity to just let it go. Flukes are a pain it’s taken several weeks of treatments.
