There are a few people that do not use rodi water. It depends on your source water, as too how successful it will be.

You might be ok with initial setup; as mentioned, depends on your water source.
But after that, if you're using anything but RODI or distilled (or maybe rainwater?) for top off water, you'll be concentrating metals and other contaminants on an ongoing basis, and eventually something will reach a toxic level.

I didn't for a few years but have seen a huge difference with RO and can kick myself for fooling myself that it isn't necessary as long as I add Prime, etc

Yes- little to no algae, no anything. Paid off. was starting to buy it from LFS and thereafter knew , time for an RO unit

I’ve got algae and run rodi unit but my rodi unit is down until I order new parts and I’m having to use tap water for time being

I’ve been dosing it with safe I’ve only been using it for top off water for time being tho I see so many people who use tap and have thriving tanks so i am just curious on what’s really “best”

Tsp can be used but also based on why mineral content, ph and tds values it contains. Some municipalities have great water while others urge “ don’t drink the water “.
