Hello R2R Family,

I will start by introducing myself, I’m Dan and I have been in the Hobby for 5 years now.

I have always had a passion for marine life and have always wanted my own Reef but never made the jump to start. My passion started whilst on family holidays either scuba diving or snorkelling around the reefs, spending hours at a time.

My first reef came whilst scrolling Facebook market place and I couldn’t let the chance go, A massive riterri anemone, 2 clown fish and a box fish. I had done zero research at the time but the opportunity was too good. Like many others I had experience in keeping freshwater tanks in the past, but not salt water. Hours of research began from there, and I was successful in keeping it all alive.

After a couple years in the hobby I started getting more and more addicted to the hobby, hours upon hours of research a day allowed me to keep a successful mixed reef. My love for euphyllia grew and grew until I made the leap of faith into SPS and I have been addicted ever since. Always trying to get that extra growth, or that extra bit of colour.

My first serious tank was an Aqua Oak XL cube, I was determined to make this a thriving mixed reef. It was the first sumped tank I had so again it was all new to me!!

Fast forward 18 months and my corals outgrew the tank. It was time to go bigger. I was happy I had learnt enough to keep a thriving mixed reef.

Like many others, trying to pick a new tank was a headache, but I finally decided on a D-D Reef Pro 1200. It was the best decision I have made, the tank is flawless and looks incredible.

I wasn’t to worried about the move, as due to the fact I was in the military I was used to doing tank moves due to moving a lot.

Fast forward a few hours of the tank transfer and it was all in……..

I honestly don’t know how all this fit into the cube, apart from adding the rock structure on the left, which cycled in the new tank. The rest was all from the old system. HOW DID IT FIT

Fast forward another 6 months and this brings me to today. The tank is doing well(touch wood) of course I have had issues along the way, we all have. But it just keeps us in the hobby.
