I currently have a 6 stage Liquigen RODI unit that I tend to forget is running which ends up flooding my basement.

I've done this numerous times and I've decided that I need to add some sort of visual indicator that let's me know the water is running.

My plan is to to add an in-line flow switch with a normally-open contact that I can connect to a 12v LED light in my kitchen. This way the light will be on when when I have flow.

My problem is I can't find an in-line switch that has 1/4" push-in fittings.

The only one that I found like this is made for the Neptune system.

Has anyone built anything like this before? Or does anyone know of any flow switched that will work for my situation?

Why not just use a float valve to turn off the flow when the bucket is full?

I thought about that too. I just figured a flow switch would be cheaper than a solenoid valve.
I suppose I could do that and integrate an LED into the design where when the float switch is activated it could light up an indicator at the same time.
I'll have to look into a solenoid and weigh my options

I'm not meaning a solenoid valve and associated electronics.

Just a good old fashioned mechanical float valve. (Which are also a good idea as the last line of defense in an electronic system :-)

I have been using a $12 manual float valve from BRS on my RODI containers for two years. Not a single over flow.

I'm currently running a 1/4 line to my ATO bucket. That float valve has been flawless for 49 days, it has transfered 193 litres of water without a drop spilled.

This is by far the cheapest and best way to handle it.

By the way, I do have 1/4 flow meter I picked up on Amazon. It's hooked to an Arduino and graphing my flow rate. I also get an email if it flows water too long..

I never considered a manual float valve. I'll have to look into those.
A flow meter might be a little too high tech for me. I'm not very computer savvy
